The Save As dialog only offers the option to save as HTML
File or Text file. My search on the subject led to a page
that related to older versions of IE. I'm running IE6,
with all downloads installed. Any ideas?

Thanks!

When you save the file, manually add the ".mht" (w/o quotes) to the filename.

So it would look something like this.

filename.mht

Alas, doing that saves all of the code, but for some
reason IE opens and displays it as text.
Thanks anway, though.

In IE6> FILE> Save as> Save as type> Scroll to Web Archive, Single file, [*.mht]> Save button.

Yeah, but that option *isn't* there, so I can't scroll to
it. The only choices are HTML and Text. The Web Archive
option is available in IE6 on my other two computers, so
I know how to use it. What I want to do is fix the
problem with this one.

Have you tried to run the repair feature for IE6?

No; I'm not familiar with it, and a quick search in the
IE6 help system didn't bring anything up. I'll google it
and see what happens. Thanks1

If you are using IE6 on a Win98/ME PC:
Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs> Double click MS IE6 & Internet Tools> Select Repair> Run Repair> Reboot PC.

You will need to check all the settings in IE6 & OE6 (if you use this program), and re-personalize them, since some will be returned to the default stage. Also you will need to resize the windows in both IE6/OE6 programs.

If you are using IE6 that "CAME" with WinXP:

This article if for IE 5 but the cure may be similar.

Cannot Save Web Page as a Web Archive File
When you attempt to save a Web page as a Web archive (.mht) file, "Web
Archive (*.mht)" may be missing from the Save As Type box.
