can't run windows update

i recently had the w32/nachi virus on my win 2000 pro
system. the virus has been removed and i have installed
the patch that is supposed to protect it from future
infections.... but when i try to go to windows update to
install other software updates, it redirects me to a page
saying the server is unreachable.

i've heard that this might be because my system is missing
some sort of security file.

can anyone help me to fix whatever needs fixing so that i
can utilize the windows update feature??

I think your RPC services has been stopped. Go to Control Pannel -
Services -- to start the RPC services.

Then restart your IE, go to windows update. Try it ....
