can't run Norton anti virus on windows xp home edition

I purchased Norton Anti virus 2004. I installed it on my
computer. I tried to run live update, but the program
terminates before I can answer all of the questions. I
tried to go to www.symantec.com and all I get is page
cannot be displayed. I talked to Symantec after waiting
an interminable amount of time and right after we started
talking my cell phone dropped out.

I am using a compaq Presario 940 with 256mb memory and a
dial up connection through Juno. Help please.

It sounds like you have a fire wall that's blocking out some internet access.
If you have a fire wall try disableing it.

Very bad advice. It takes only seconds running without a firewall
to get infected by worms like Sasser and Blaster.

You already have a trojan that is preventing you from installing any
anti-virus software.

Go to...

www.trendmicro.com

and run their on-line virus detection.

Have a nice one...

I would guess that JUNO is the problem. Last I checked, Norton's Live
Update does not know how to trigger JUNO's dialer. You have to have JUNO
running in the browser mode before you can start Live Update. If you run
JUNO in the E-Mail mode, it will hang up as soon as it downloads new mail
and terminate the connection.
