Can't Run In Safe Mode

I have Windows XP Professional and I am unable to start my computer in Safe
Mode by pressing F8 during boot up. Can someone please help me ? Thank you.
 
you have to continually tap the F8 key as soon as computer starts to boot.
if scrolling bar or Windows logo appear, you are too late.
keep trying. it has to work unless something is wrong w/keyboard.
