Can't run EA Games Battlefield 1942

I was able to play before sp2 install, now no joy. I get the famous black
screen, beep and back to desktop symptoms. I tried the fixes from the EA
site (mainly thought to be screen refresh problems), new video driver, shut
down all processes except the essential ones and still no joy.

Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know how to fix?

Hi Don,

I've was using BF1942 as recently as last night. I have the full version
with the Road to Rome, Secret Weapons, and Desert Combat add ons. Never had
a problem that I could relate to SP2.
