Cannot find file <file path> (or one of its components).
Check to ensure the path and filename are correct and that all required
libraries are available.

Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 166389 isn't helping out, it suggest DDE
is enabled (it was in the services list). I disabled the 2 entries and that
didn't help. the article suggests that I look in the file type in the folder
options, except my problem is with an executable application, and "exe"
files don't have an entry in this section.

suggestions?

my problem is that it is an executable file, an application downloaded from
a camera site to extract photos from my digital camera. I have used this
previously and saved it to cd. when I couldn't install from this file again,
I downloaded an updated version and this one gives the same error as the
previous version. all other executable applications run fine on my pc.

I'm having the same problem with winBUGS14.exe. I hope someone
provides a solution.

I have still had no luck, I am going to do a refresh install of XP pro to
see if that helps, I'd hate to format an otherwise good OS.

hi, I solved it. for some reason some "document" I never found was attached
to the file, when I attempted to move the file to a removable usb drive, I
got a popup warning me that moving the file would move the file only and not
the document attached to it. so I continued, then ran the program from the
new location and it installed correctly. I moved the file via a right click
drag to the new location.

the msg reads"

confirm stream loss
the file "__" has extra information attatched to it that might be lost if
you continue copying. the contents of the file will not be affected.
information that might be lost includes:
----
document summary info
----
do you want to proceed anyway?
yes|no
========
continuing to copy the file to an external drive makes the new copy work
only. deleting the original and restoring it still wont work, only the copy
works.

weirdest shit I ever come across.
