Can't restart system restore in XP

In trying to get rid of Trojan Horse, I turned off System Restore and deleted
the Sys Restore folder (in safe mode). I did get rid of the virus, but now I
can't get System Restore to come back on. I clicked off the check on the
Control Panel/System page, hit apply and ok. When I tried to open System
Restore from the start menu, I got a notice that it was trying to find a
folder 'rst...'. The box disappeared before I could write the info down and
I can't get it to reappear. When I try to start it from Computer Management,
I get error 1359. How do I get System Restore back up and running?

Can anyone help?

If the SystemRestore folder is still in your Recycle bin, right click on
that file & choose Restore. Turning off SystemRestore & rebooting
should be sufficient to eliminating any baddies that are caught in the
Restore points. Run your scans, & then re-enable System Restore.

Insert the Windows XP CD
Start>Run>Type the following command and press Enter
"rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf"
System Restore core files should be reinstalled.

If you have installed WXP_SP2, type the following at,
Start>Run:

C:\Windows\ServicePackFles\i386 has the file. i386 is the
SR2 install repository.
