Can't resize window that is minimized in tray

This problem just boggles the mind! I am using ACT software and when I click
on "restore down", instead of the window getting smaller so that I could
resize it and make it any size I want, it minimizes in the system tray. At
that point, when I right click on it minimized, my choices are move, size,
minimize & maximize. When I choose move or size, I get the cross-hair
pointer, like I would be able to resize it, but I can't move the cross-hair
pointer to the bottom toolbar. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Well, that is a behavior of Act, and probably how you configured it to
behave. Go look in its options to see if you can alter its minimize
behavior.

Have you tried double-clicking on its tray icon to see if it restores
its window?

Oops, forgot. I believe there are some utilities around that try to
clean up the taskbar by moving icons from it into the tray area. Maybe
you are running one of those.

After using "restore down," use the move command to expose the lower edge
of the program window. Then use the Resize command. Or start your resizing
from the top, move the window up and then tackle the bottom edge.

Another approach - try opening ACT and right clicking on the taskbar to
choose Cascade Windows. If ACT uses the "default" window size, it will
comply. If the program is only utilizing two states, maximized and
minimized, the size won't change - in that case see Vanguard's reply about
checking program preferences within ACT.
