Can't remove Read Only access from shared folder

I have my 2 computers networked. The first is running WIN 98, the second WIN
XP I have set up a folder on the first to be shared, Full Access by the
second. However, it shows up on the second with the Read Only button
selected. I can deselect it, but the change is not saved. How can I get
Full access to the files in this folder?

Thanks Greg. I am trying to open the files on my XP machine. They reside on
the WIN 98 machine. The program that accesses them (MasterCook) doesn't
recognize the format, though these are just backup files which I copied from
my XP machine onto the WIN 98 machine (which the program recognizes when they
reside on the XP machine). Someone had suggested that the problem was that
they were Read Only, but I guess it's something less obvious.
