Can't Remove Active Content

I installed active content from the web a few days ago and can't figure out
how to delete it. It was a countdown I got off a website and put on my
desktop. I've tried everything I can think of to get it off my desktop, but
it won't move. What should I do?

Open Control Panel, double-click Display.
Click the Desktop tab, and choose "Customize Desktop".
Select the "Web" tab
Delete all the items except "My current Home page"
Uncheck "My current Home page"
Click OK, and now select (None) as your Desktop background
Click OK and close the dialog.
