Can't Reload on XP Home

Initial installation was successful. Initial scan found
5,000 infected files and 23,000 infected keys! LOL! Ran
this after having to restore the Registry due to a corrupt
SYSTEM file. Now, MSAS starts OK in the System Tray but
when I try to open it to modify settings, etc. it wont
open. It just hangs on the initial "Loading..." window. I
uninstalled/reinstalled but still have same problem. Any
ideas?

Can you restart your system in safe mode, and see whether you can run
Microsoft Antispyware in that mode? If so, then restart normally and see
whether the improvement carries over.

Thanks Bill! That worked. Not sure if this is related
but I had first attempted to download updates. When that
hung I ended the task through Task Manager. Then I
couldn't get into the program.

It is possible in your case, that the restart is what took care of it,
rather than the safe mode run, per se. There may have been something left
over from the end-task'ed run that kept the new UI from displaying.

Glad it worked, anyway!
