Can't reconnect network drives

QTY 3 Vista Home Premium PC's Ethernet / DI-604 / HP6210 Office Jet

1. We are so tired of having to re-enter user name and password to access
our network drives. Even though when they were mapped we checked "reconnect
at logon". However every boot time we get the subject line balloon message.

2. Our network printer also requires username and password every time we
want to print after a reboot.

QUESTIONS:
(1) What are we doing wrong? Is this repetitive username/password nonsense
normal Vista behavior? Never had this with XP

(2) What can we do to maintain access to the network printer if a client pc
reboots?

(3) Is all this security hoops we have to jump through now because of
Al-Qaida?

Vista Home versions do not cache credentials and also do not automatically
use a guest logon. One general solution is to add a user to the vista
machine with a name and password matching the user on the host PC. That's
not the only solution, but since you didn't include any info re. what
version of Windows is on the machine(s) hosting the shares, I can't be more
specific.

Thx for that info and tip. I think I'll take that approach as it seems to be
just right for our home network

-ps just added the extra user accounts. Thanks for straightforward
to-the-point information in plain English
.. All is well in Mudville tonight.

I'm having whats sound like the same problem, there are several people in my
house who use one of two computers and two laptops to do work and emails
etc... They are all running VIsta home premium. We share an wireless external
harddrive and all have administrator access(The computers are wired into the
router that shares the harddrive, there are no seperate partions on the disk
for different people.) When each indiviual logs on we have to manually
connect to the external harddrives ie login and password. this is starting to
get tedious.
Is there a way to get vista to Autologon to the drive to avoid this.
Becoause each user has a different user account (ie setup) then we cannot
change our windows logon to a generic user and let it connect this way.

thanks IN advance.
