can't receive selected attachments

Hello,

For the entire school year I have not been able to receive most of the
attachments sent to me from my children's school. I receive attachments all
the time from others who are not emailing from the school.

Interestingly, in Windows Mail, I cannot even SEE that there is an
attachment -- I just know that it is missing because of the content of the
email.

If I go to my email on AT&T (now AT&T Yahoo), I can see the attachment, but
often I cannot open it at all.

Any ideas on how to fix?

The school's technology guru says I am the only one reporting this problem,
so it must be with my computer, not with the school.

Any help would be so appreciated.

Thanks,

Dana

Have you checked with the other parents to see if any of
them are experiencing the same problem?

Chances are, the school is using Microsoft Outlook.
The basic problem is that Outlook, by default, uses a proprietary
form of encoding for attachments, which is not readable by
non-Outlook mail clients.
Ask the sender to resend using either plain text (preferred) or
standard HTML format. Have the school's IT expert take a look at
this article:
http://email.about.com/od/outlooktips/qt/et121705.htm

Your only other workaround is to install a copy of Outlook.
