cant read/see pictures all i get is numbers/letters instead of pictures

when i open my hotmail email it starts out as (transfer
encoding 8 bit then its all numbers/letters where the body
and the pictures should be.what wrong?

The mail program of whoever is sending you the mail is sending it in an
incorrect format. I'd guess that it's putting a blank line (which marks the
start of the mail body) where it shouldn't (like right before the
Transfer-Encoding header field).
