can't read data cd

re-installed win xp. CAN download windows xp, word, printer drivers from
cd/dvd RW.
CANNOT download/import backup data from CD.

what's the problem?

you need to use the same software for retrieving a backup
as you used for creating it in the first place

With a new install of xp you now have a different identity. You may need to
take ownership of the data folders to use it. Here's a page on how.
