cant read any CDs after some software upgrades

Oliver R.

Hello,
thank you for reading this post.

My cdrom drives worked fine for some months, recently i
installed newest windows 2000 service pack, and after
reboot i got a blue screen. I had to remove some software
packages (i think the problem was with numega softice) to
get it working.

But after that my CDROM and CDRW cant read any CDs. The
devices are properly detected and drivers installed
without any problems. But it ignores any discs that are in
the drive, like there was no disk at all. (When i put the
disk in drive it spins like everything was fine).

It hasto be software trouble, because it works in my other
OS perfectly.

I tried to install the drivers again, i tried following
the troubleshooter ... does not help.

Thanks in advance.

Oliver.

I forgot to add a little detail :

i cant even mount a binary CD iso image,
it does the same as the real CDroms.

(Please insert disk in drive....)

i have problems with my cdrom that are not on the driver
level, but somewhere deeper inside windows (the problem
does affect even simulated cdrom from iso image).

the cdroms are properly detected, drivers properly
installed. HW is ok, in my other OS it works fine.

the cd is recognized in my cd burning software (i can see
the tracks on it), but i can not access the files, or even
the name of the cd. explorer says "please insert a disk
into drive D:", and when the disk is in, "the disk in
drive D: is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?",
i say OK, i get " the disk in drive D: can not be
formatted".

The problem may be with your CD software's drivers. What CD burning
software are you using?
