Hi there
Hi have a Vaio VGN-FS315M. This morning, winlogon.exe caused a fatel error
and I had to re-install. I have system restore disks that i had created for
times like this, but about half way through an error came up and the whole
thing shut down. I tried again but it just won't restore. It won't even
restore from my system restore partition. No idea what to do now as i don't
have a copy of XP home.
Any help would be appreciated as i am on the verge of putting my head
through the screen!

Cheers

Do you recall what the error that appeared during the restore was? What
exactly happens when you try again? What happens when you try the restore
partition?

What happens when you just try to start the system now?

When i just try and restart without a disk i get:
'Operating system not found'
I'm trying the recovery disk again right now and its gone further than before.
If it still does not work i'll post the error message.
Thanks for your help.

Well it just packed up as i sent my last post.
Here is the error;
'A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent
damage to your computer.
IRQL_NOT_LES_OR_EQUAL'

It goes on to say a number of things after this but at the bottom it says:
'Techincal information:
***STOP: 0x0000000A (0x88269A20,0x00000002,0x00000000,0x8041FC1E)

Any ideas/

Cheers
