Can't print to a HP 6P

Our Director just got back from a 2 week trip, plugged in his new Dell
laptop and finds he can't print to his connected printer HP 6P. All he's
done on his side is defrag the HD.
We've deleted the printer twice and run "Install new printer". It connects
via USB and is connected just fine. We've stopped and started the Print
Spool service a couple times - no impact. We've tried printing docs from
Outlook, Word and Notepad. Can see the docs in the Print window, but no
action, the status bar on the bottom says the doc is waiting in queue.

I've cycled the printer on and off a few times, too. Am at a loss on where
to go from here. Any ideas?
