Can't print from Win98 to XP Pro boxes via P2P network

Matthew W.

I am trying to print over P2P network from a Win98 box to
WinXP Pro box. I've been through all sorts of
configurations and am not able to authenticate from Win98
to WinXP so that I can print to an HP 6P on LPT1 on WinXP
box. I have been able to distribute web service over my
P2P and I am able to see files on the Win98 boxes from the
WinXP box. I am not able to see files in reverse, from
Win98 to WinXP.

I have carefully reviewed and followed the MS text "Windows
XP Inside Out" on the section covering networking: managing
shared folders and printers. I can not get beyond the
point where I receive a password dialog on the Win98 box
requiring a password for the IPC$ or the PRINT$ shares on
the XP box. I have added user accounts to the XP Pro box
with the same name and (non-blank) password as the Win98 boxes.

What further info do you need to help me? What web
publications would you suggest to guide my efforts? Any
suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks.

I am also getting an Audit Failure:
Logon Failure:
Reason: The user has not been granted the requested
logon type at this machine
User Name: MHWRIGHT
Domain: WALLACE
Logon Type: 3
Logon Process: NtLmSsp
Authentication Package: NTLM
Workstation Name: \\MHWRIGHT

Where MHWRIGHT is a Win98 box and the domain is a workgroup.
