My PC won't play mid, wav, etc. files. I'm using XP Home.

They were working prior to my moving and re-setting up the computer.

It plays CD's and system sounds so speakers are working.

I have tried Windows Media Player and RealPlayer, same thing.

They are all registered to appropriate applications in Windows
Explorer|Folder Options|File types.

Can someone please direct me to where the problem might be?

Thanks

He moved house and re-set up his system, I presume.

Who asked you, you moron?

You presumed right. I just moved my residence. Had to unhook computer and
reset up. Everything is working fine except for not being able to play mid,
wav, etc.

What happens when you select one of those files in Explorer and double click
it? If nothing happens, right click it, choose Open With and select an
appropriate program to run it. If it works, do it again and this time put
a check mark in the box before "always use this program for this type file"
(sic)

Then learn to use your newsreader and reply to Perspiration Stink, not me.

Hi,

Thanks for the verification. Re-setting up to some users can mean a repair
install, etc. That said, and I haven't a clue why or how this could happen
via a move, but:

Try adding "Roland Sound Canvas Sound Set" (visibility 200) via Media Player
and verify that:
GM.DLS is in your Windows\System32\Drivers folder.

Good luck!
