can't play avi encoded with "mjpg"

I have a Canon A70 DC, which can take short video encoded in "mjpg
My Xp home used to be able to play it in mediaplayer with no problem
But after some days, the video can't be played any more
You only hear the sound from the video, but the screen is black
I uninstalled all software I think may conflict with it
But still can't figure out
Only quicktime can play this kind of avi files now

Anyone know why
