Can't ping hostname

My Windows 2000 professional O/S somehow lost the ablity the ping hostnames. I get 'unknown hostname' message. But, I can ping IP addresses just fine

Please help

Hi,

Check the TCP/IP settings to make sure the 2000 Pro box is pointing to a DNS
server. Try to ping the IP address of the DNS server. Try changing the 2000
box to point to a different DNS server.
