Can't Ping default gateway

I have added two laptops one with XP Pro and one W2K Pro
and I can browse the network, but i cannot hit my default
gateway to get out. Is there some kind of configuration
that i need to check?
 
you need to give us ipconfig /all results on both laptops
and your gateway.
 
Are you sure the DG's are set correctly? If so, your DG might note allow for
a ping response. Are you behind firewall/proxy server?
