Can't open website - FP 98

Have been updating website live for 6 years. It's a big site. Being moved to
a new server because of server issues with current provider. FTP'd the site
to my hard drive so I have backup. I now want to edit the pages from my hard
drive and then publish rather than making changes live. Don't know how to
open it in FP. "Getting Started" dialog box has Root Web which is how I
connect live. Clicking on "More Webs" takes me to "Open FP Web". localhost is
what appears in the box. Click on "List Webs" and receive this message. "The
server localhost timed out. Current request did not complete". How do I get
my copy on hard drive into FP?

You should have published them from the remote site to your local computer.
Now you will have to make a new web and cut and paste them to that. You will
lose any navigation and links you had.

I need to take this a step at a time - technical stuff is not my strong
point. Are you saying that I should have published it back to my hard drive
through FrontPage rather then doing the FTP?

Thank you. I will check this out. I've been told I don't have to rebuild
website as suggested in original response to my post. Hope that is true. Too
big a website -- to much business at risk - not enough time. Have a FP
instructor coming to my house to help with this.
