Can't open shared MBD w/Access 2003 and 2007

We have a shared Access 2003 database on our network that will not open when
being accessed by both Access 2003 and 2007.

If a user who has Access 2007 opens the database, another user who has
Access 2003 cannot open it. If only Access 2007 users are opening the file
then more than one user has access to it, and visa-versa. We experience a
lock condition when trying to open it in the mixed 2003/2007 environment.

We have a mixed environment because Office 2007 is being phased in within
our organization.

The Forms and VBA are split out onto a locally installed MDB.

Can an Access 2003 MDB be shared in a mixed 2003/2007 environment? If so,
what should we be looking at to resolve this issue?

they should all be able to work simultaneously.

you state that "> The Forms and VBA are split out onto a locally installed
MDB."...and this implies that you have split database frontend/backend but
you didn't use that terminology that most db people do here....so are you
sure that the "back end" is truly the back end...you maybe have some people
remotely linked to someone elses local db or possibly people are attempting
to open a common front maybe located at a shared drive.

in any case it should work so you might want to double check this....if no
resolution you should reply with the exact error message you are receiving.

potentially the root issue could be a user level security setting and not
the version/technology type at all...but as you didn't mention this it may be
a red herring....
