Can't open saved word document

I am running an old computer with Windows 98 and Word 2000. I have a
document I have opened and closed many times (a story about 80 pages long
that I have been writing). THe last time I did some edits and saved the
document I was no longer able to open it.....I get the message "The document
name or path is invalid". I can open the document in quick View or Notepad
so I know it is still there but I can't see the entire document using those
programs. All my other documents are fine and canbe opened and closed.
Please.....how do I recover my book .....I need to be able to open that
document.
