I have Office 2003 Professional installed and all other applications work fine.
When I d/click on a .pub file I get an error message which says xxxxx.pub is
not a valid Win32 application. If I open Publisher and then click on the file
it opens no problem. Can anyone help?

Right-click on the xxxx.pub file in Explorer - choose Open With, Choose
Program, and browse to Publisher's execurable. Check "always use this
program...." and see if this works.

That was the first thing I did. Even after marking the checkbox the error
message still comes up as soon as I click the OK button.

I suppose that you didn't check that the change had actually taken place.

In the control panel, click on "Folder Options". Then check "file types".
Run down the list to see if the extension "pub" is listed at all, and if so
what application it invokes.

If it is not listed, add it using the supplied help.
If the application is wrong, correct that using the supplied help.

And, always verify that your change has taken place.

Checked Folder Options and the file type is there.
Did a Detect and Repair as suggested - completed successfully.
Tried Open With again, Publisher is the recommended application - checked
the box> OK. Still get the Not a Valid Win32 Application message.
Oh well, at least I can still use Publisher even if I have to open it first
instead of it opening when I d/click a file.
Thanks for all your suggestions - much appreciated.
