Can't open PDF's anymore?!?

Hi all...I used to be able to click on a PDF email attachment and it would
open automatically with Adobe Reader. I just installed the latest verison of
Reader but now when I click on a PDF attachment, I get an error message that
says "this file does not have a program associated with it, create an
association in the Folder Options control panel". Well, there IS one already
there and it says PDF files to be opened by Reader 7.0. If I have a PDF
anywhere else on my system, I click on it and Reader automatically opens. It
just doesn't work with Outlook anymore. I'm using Outlook Express 6 and
Adobe Reader 7.0. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Are you able to save the pdf to the desktop, open Adobe Reader and then force
the pdf to open through Adobe?

Since double-clicking on a .pdf file on the drive will work to open Adobe
Reader to view it, my guess is that Adobe Reader is configured NOT to work
from within IE. Adobe Reader uses an ActiveX control as a BHO (browser
helper object) defined for IE. See if Adobe Reader is configured to display
PDFs within IE. Maybe you used some other utility, like BHO Demon, to
disable some BHOs.

First you say that you are using Outlook. Then you are saying that you use
Outlook Express. Make a choice. This group is for Outlook, not Outlook
Express.

Yes, I can do that.

However, I actually just found a fix for this problem. I also found this is
a very very common problem for many people.

Anyway, the fix is to simply go to Add/Remove Programs in control panel.
Under Adobe Reader, click on "Change", then click "repair". After running the
repair function, the PDF's now open fine!

Thanks.

The Help menu in the program itself has a Detect and Repair entry for doing
the same thing. Well, in version 7 it does.
