I can't open Outlook Express 2007. It starts to open, but then says -Cannot
start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the outlook widow.

I don't know how to fix this?

What type of mail account do you have? Did it ever work for you before? Does
it work if you open Outlook in safe mode?

Start > Run > outlook.exe /safe

Comcast is my email and internet provider. I use Microsoft Outlook, always
have. Yes it has always worked. No it won't open in safe mode.

Is there an error message when you run that switch?

When did Outlook stop working?

Today it stopped working, it says: Cannot start Microsoft Outlook, Cannot
open the outlook window.

Mine is doing the same thing. Only thing I did was shut down the computer
over night which I don't usually do.

Failed to get the Crawl Scope Manager with error=0x8007043c. I also get
this error in the event log.

It doesn't work in safe mode.

Are you running Windows Desktop search?

No. I created a new profile and imported my pst file and it works now. If
I use the Outlook profile it will not open. I am back in business. :)

Okay, I got help from an Information Specialist, this is what he had me do:
go to Start, Run, then type: outlook.exe/resetnavpane

That worked!

Hey guys, thanks a million for this solution. Today is December 10, 2009,
and for reasons unknown to me, my Outlook did exactly what you've described
in terms of error message, etc. I found this discussion group in about ten
minutes and it saved me hours and hundreds of dollars (in MS tech time). The
resetnavpane worked like you said. I'd love to know why Outlook messed up,
but then I may never know the reason.
Thanks again for saving my holidays.
