can't open email attachments - just downloaded IE6

What do I need to disable or enable to open attachments?

Help and please dummy down your answer as I need things spelled out in simple terms.

Tools menu > Options > Security tab
Uncheck "Do not allow attachments...."
(Assuming you really want to disable this security feature)

Assuming you are asking about Outlook Express 6:

In OE go to Tools | Options | Security and uncheck "Do not allow
attachments...".
