hi,

i have a home network with two computers running windows
xp pro within the same subnet and no problem pinging
each other.

for some reasons i am unable to use the xp's map drive
menu to map a drive from one computer. however, i can map
it using the "net use" command.

does anyone has any suggestion? is there something that i
am not doing right? thanks in advance to those who care
to reply to this question.

Calvin,

Please test shares visibility between the two computers (use actual name /
address of each computer, and a representative share, as appropriate):
Start - Run then:
1) \\ThisComputerByName
2) \\ThisComputerByIPAddress
3) \\OtherComputerByName
4) \\OtherComputerByIPAddress
5) \\ThisComputerByName\ShareName
6) \\ThisComputerByIPAddress\ShareName
7) \\OtherComputerByName\ShareName
8) \\OtherComputerByIPAddress\ShareName
Report visibility of folder or shares / exact error displayed in each test (16
tests total).

Cheers,
Chuck
