Can't make files work offline! help

G

giz

I am trying to sych data directory on a desktop with a
laptop across a lan. XP pro on the desktop and XP home on
the laptop.
I enabled offline files on both machines by
deselecting "fast user switching" in User Accounts in
control panel. Then I went to My computer/tools/folder
options/ offline files and made sure the enable offline
files was selected.
I mapped the drive from the laptop to the desktop . then
when I select sychronization manager, it should show all
the shared files so I can select which ones I want it to
synch. The only thing there is My Current Home Page.
Plus when I choose a directory or a file in Windows
Explorer and then either right click or choose the file
menu, I should see "Make Available Offline" but it does
not show up anywhere.
Of course I rebooted after making all the changes and it
should work but I am stumped.
Please help, what detail am I missing?
thanks

This is an easy fix. Right-click the network drive you
want to use offline and select "synchronize" from the
dropdown menu. Then, go get a burger or something as this
may take a while. Once the synchronization runs through
without an error, you should be able to select the mapped
drive for regular synchronization in the synch manager.
