I have a friend who I am trying to help out. She is running XP on an
E-Machine and has problems with kids going to x-rated sites. Basically
I installed Ad-Aware and updated her Norton subscription. I found a
Trojan virus on there and Norton quarenteened it. Everythng was fine
till the kids got to the PC again over the weekend and now when the PC
boots up and I click on one of the two users she has set up it logs
off automatcially. By going back and forth between her son and her
users the desk top comes on for a second and logs off automatically to
the page you see when it boots up. She has no windows password set up.
Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance.

If you can find no way of editing the registry outside Windows, try
using the recovery console and employing the following command

copy C:\Windows\System32\userinit.exe
C:\Windows\system32\wsaupdater.exe

(this is one line separated by a space; supposing windows is installed
in C: and this was caused by blazefind)

Good luck
