Can't Log In as Administrator on Local Workgroup

I have a Win2K desktop that is part of a local workgroup.
I need to change it to be part of our LAN but am unable to
logon as the administrator to change it. The local logon
has no administrative priveliges at all, so I can't add or
alter priveleges, etc. Am I dead in the water?
