can't locate correct data file

I upgraded to the office pro full suite and uninstalled my previous version-office 2000. Now I can't mail merge. Do I need to uninstall both and reinstall 2000, then do upgrade selecting upgrade only?
 
I should have identified my version-XP Office Pro 2003 is what I upgraded to
 
What is happening, can it not find the contacts?
