Can't load software

Whenever I try to load software; I get an error. It
occurs towards the end of the loading process. Message:
Cannot locate ordinal 77 in the dynamic link library
OLEAUT2.dll

Sometimes the software will then go ahead and work and
others won't.

What causes this.

Last night I got a message that the system could not
locate ordinal 176 in the dynamic link library Oleaut2.dll

Help. And thanks for your assistance.

OLEATU2.DLL (Microsoft OLE Automation v2)
The program may require a different version of the file.
You can try reregistering the file:
Start > Run... > "regsvr32 c:\winnt\system32\oleaut2.dll"
If this fails, try a different version of the file. (See
your software documentation or support)
This may need to be done in Safe Mode. (Windows File
Protection services run in Normal Mode)
