Can't link to certain sites

When I pull up my homepage, some graphics won't display and I cannot connect
to most links on the page (I get 'The page cannot be displayed' error). I can
connect to certain sites like Microsoft or Google, but cannot link to any of
the Google search results. I am running Windows 2000 Pro and IE6 SP1. For
what it's worth, when I used the Msinfo32 program I found some file versions
of internet explorer that were listed as "not available". These included
wsock.vxd plus 5 other files with a .dll extension. Will I need to uninstall
IE6 to fix this? Any help would be appreciated!

Robert - Thanks for the info, although I haven't had a chance to check it
out since I can't connect to that site! (Will go to my office later and try)
Forgot to mention in my first post that I have a wireless network set up in
my home and my laptop running on Win 98 and IE (fully updated) can't connect
to sites either.
