Google sponsored links problem

I can not get any of the sponsored ad links to open off the Google search results page.
The error Message "Internet Explorer cannot display this page".
The address bar is always prefaced with the Google address and then linking to the advertiser.
However, I can copy the advertiser's URL and paste it into the address bar and then get the site
just fine.
I am currently using IE7, but I had the same problem with IE6.
It always gives me this error off the Google search results page, but only occasionally with ad
links off other sites.
I do use the MVPS hosts file for blocking ads and update it quite often.
But I have not tried the links with the Host file disabled.

Does anyone have any ideas on why these sponsored ad links are all blocked?
It is a result of the HOSTS file?
Can anyone give me a link to Google to ask this same question?

System information:
Windows XP HOME with SP2
AVG Pro
Windows Defender
Windows Firewall
Currently IE7

Changing the HOST file back to the original fixed the link problem.
The HOST file modified by MVPS not only blocks "in-page" ads, it block the sponsored links as well.

Hello,

Yep, you answered your own question.

You can edit the HOSTS file using any text editor and remove those lines
associated with Google. The line should look something like this

127.0.0.1 pagead2.googlesyndication.com

Delete the line and save. Restart IE.

If it still doesn't work, perhaps somebody else can post the correct line as
there could be more than this.
