Can't launch Intrnet Explorer....

Came home from work to find I was unable to get on explorer(6.0). Also couldn't view temporary web pages or delete them. I also couldn't access any saved documents related to explorer. Also couldn't access windows updates.or windows help. Kept saying unable to access page. A window opens and says"program unable to recieve command" when I tried to open any saved files which had Internet Explorer logos. Internet Explorer and MSN simply don't even launch whenclicked on...the cursor changes to an hour glass for about 2 seconds then returns to an arrow. I tried restoring to an earlier date and the symptoms got worse...then I couldn't even open my start menu. I then shut it down manually by shutting off the switch on the power strip. I then restarted in safe mode, and am able to access explorer, and all offline files. After scandisk, disk clean up and defrag, I rebooted in normal mode and still have the same problems. Any Ideas?

Try performing a clean boot. Go to Start > Run > msconfig
startup tab and disable all items. Reboot and see if your IE functions
now; if it does, enable the programs one or two at a time until you
find the culprit.
