Can't join network after installing XP

I just upgraded one of the computers on our company
network. The upgraded computer can't see the network. I
have an IP address, a gateway and a DNS set. What am I
missing?
 
Did you join the computer to the Domain? (if there is one)
otherwise put it in the correct workgroup?
 
After rebooting a couple of times and some patience I can
finally see the network.
