I have successfully slipstreamed sp4 into my win2k system and then made
a bootable win2k_sp4 cd.
It booted up ok, started the setup, but part way throught it asked me to
insert the sp4 cd into my cdrom drive so I cliked 'ok', but then
complained it could not find the i386\NT5INF.CAT file, and setup failed.

I have NT5INF.CA_ in my \i386 folder along with many other files which
need to be expanded, but I thought setup would do this automatically.

help please

Thanks

According to a document I have somewhere, this can happen if you havent done
the following

"The cdromsp4.tst file needs to be in the root, otherwise you will be
prompted to insert the SP4 CD during setup. This is a zero byte file, so
can be created by hand if necessary."

If you want a copy of the Document email me at

Actually I have that file and others which are required in the root of
the cd, mmm so what else is causing it.

A bad disk maybe?
Have you tried recreating the disk using a new CD and see if it has the same
issue, I have a copy of 2K (backup of course)
which I tried once ,having never used it, only to find it fail during a
reinstall.

Just wrote another disk, but still same problem asking for sp4 CD, then
i386\NT5INF.CAT

Any other ideas? What about expanding the said file it is asking for?
but I have forgotten what the correct syntax is for that.

Thanks
