can't install HP 6L on Win 2000 system

I want to install an HP6L on Windows 2000. I go to Printers and click on ADD
PRINTER and use the Wizard to help me install the printer on LPT2. I use the
driver for HP6L that comes with Win2000 b/c it won't let me use my floppies.
It all seems to be loading just fine but the printer won't print. What am I
doing wrong? Incidently my HP855C does print from this system on LPT1.

Here are a couple of things you might try:
- Connect the printer to LPT1 while testing.
- Try using a driver for an HP LaserJet II Series.

- Do you have -physically- a second printer port on your system?
- make sure LPT2 is installed on your system! look into Device manager. If
not you first have to add this.
- Then connect your HP printer to it, power it up and W2K should recognize a
new HardWare device automatically.
- Instlall either the MS drivers, or if you have spcific HP drivers, use
them.
