Can't install downloaded applications

Has anyone encountered downloaded files being consistently corrupt or
unableto be installed? I have downloaded installers for Flash, iTunes,
GoogleEarth and many other but all fail when I try to install. Most say the
file was corrupt (have tried downloading numerous times) or there was a write
problem.

I've tried switching off Firewalls, Virus, Spyware protection but nothing
seems to work.

Thanks if you can help with some advise.

<snip>

since the error message specified that there was a "write" problem

it's time to run a diagnostic test on your RAM and your harddrive.

you can google for memtest86 (for the RAM dignostic)

and you should be able to get the HD diagnostic from the webpage of your
HD's mfg
