Can't insert zip file

When I try to insert a zip file into an e-mail when the Insert file dialob
box displays, zip files are not available to select. I have always been able
to select zip files to insert until today. Is there a setting that may have
gotten changed?

Hi Brian,
The zip files are now all of a sudden displaying in the list of files to
select without me running the registry command you suggested. Do you know why
they would seemingly appear and disappear without me doing anything?

Not unless someone else was using your computer.

Hi Brian,
No one else is using my computer. I have a laptop that I take home every
night. This problem is happening to some of my colleagues as well. It seems
some days we can access the zip files and some days we cannot without
changing any settings in Outlook or in our registries.

Brian thanks, that fixed it for me. The odd thing is, none of my zip files
ever showed as folders, but apperntly outlook2003 thought so.

Sorry Brian, this doesn't quit do the trick. If I unregister that .dll it
forces me to use WindowsXP zip utility. Anytime I reassociate .zips back to
WinZip 8.1, WinZip 9.0 or WinRAR 3.42 My zip files using outlook2003 attach
dissapear.

Then it's an artifact of WinZip and you should be asking their support
staff.

That said, I've never seen that behavior for WinZip and I used it for years
before switching to the freeware FilZip (http://www.filzip.com/).

The answer...

'Start', 'Run', type "regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll".

Open Winzip, you will be prompted to re associate zip files with winzip,
select 'NO'.

Open Winzip, Select 'Options', 'Configuration', 'System' tab.

Deselect 'Associate winzip with Archives'.

Click 'OK', then close.

Reopen WinZip, Select 'Options', 'Configuration', 'System' tab.

Select 'Associate Winzip with Archives'.

Click 'OK'

And Walla, you are fixed.
