cant import video

This is driving me crazy! On mm2 I can import pictures and sounds fine, but when i click import video, it comes up with the import file box but then a second later displays the error message: Runtime error! This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. I've looked on PapaJohn's site but can't find the answer. I've deleted loads of software because I've read that it can come from other software and i was desperate! have deleted lots and it's still the same. does anyone have any ideas at all about why pictures and sound will import, but video has a problem? oh and also, dont know if this helps but i can "capture" from my webcam and put that footage on... so i dont understand why it wont let me browse for pre-recorded stuff in the same format? (mpegs)

This import usually works rather well. Have you tried reinstalling Movie Maker?
