I have recently swictched companies, and I wanted to bring
my pst file with me. On my old system I was running Win2K
with Office2K now I have WinXP with OfficeXp. When I try
to open the file with new machine running outlook2k2 I get
the error "The file c:\*.pst is not a valid pst file. I
have tried everything. The read only checkbox is cleared
and I have persmissions to the file. I have seen this
issue posted elsewhere but I have never seen a resolution
for this. Thanks in advance for your help!

Run scanpst.exe and see if it comes up with anything

Hi I had tried that. That allowed me to open the
recovered file but there was no emails it. Microsoft says
that the pst file in not dependent on the version of
exchange, outlook, or OS, but I think it has to be one of
those. Unless buring it to the CD screwed something up
but I had done that before and not had a problem. Owell
thanks for yor help!

Burning to the CD probably screwed things up indeed. Therefor you must
always test your burned data afterwards. Also note that burning the pst-file
while Outlook is open will create a damaged pst-file on the CD.
