Can't import Paradox 5 tables - "...not in the expected format"

I cannot import Paradox 5 tables to MS Access (97, 2000, or 2003), using
WinXP or Win2000.

The error is "External table is not in the expected format"

I can import Paradox 4 tables without error, and others can import the same
Paradox 5 tables without error.

I have registered MSPBDE40.DLL and A0004058.DLL without error, but this did
not resolve the problem.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the data access components.

This is critical to our operation of a large farm. I have researched this
for a couple of weeks without success.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Any chance of getting it into an intermediate format (e.g. delimited text
file) which Access can import?

Fred,

That's a good suggestion, but the tables are coming directly from a separate
application (farm management) and must be translated from that Paradox 5
format.

You remind me, though, if I could use some other program to convert those
tables in a batch mode to Paradox 4, that might work. Do you know of
anything like that?

Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately not.

One idea (which might be dumb or not understanding of your situation) might
be a copy of Paradoxx 5 and write in a macro-of-make-table-queries or
something like that.

I'm sort of the "low tech solution" guy

Sincerely,

Fred

Fred, that's another good idea, but we don't have Paradox 5 and won't be
getting it.

I think this problem is related to a problem with the DLL that translates
Paradox to Access, but I've tried at least three different ones without
success.

I did find a converter program (A-m-b-e-r) that can convert in batch mode
for $20. If we can't get the original problem solved, I'll add a line to our
Access program to run this converter program on the Paradox tables that I
need. Then the Access program should run as usual.

Thanks for your help.
