Importing a Paradox db

An acquaintance of mine is upgrading to Access 2000 from Paradox and
is trying to import his tables into Access. He's getting the error
message "only SQL server database can be imported". What is he doing
wrong?

Hi,

I've never imported from Paradox, but I have imported databases from several
other places into Access without problems.

Could you be more specific about exactly what your acquaintance is trying to
do, and how he is going about it.
eg. What menu options and import options he is selecting.

What version of Paradox is he importing from?

What you could do is export the data from paradox to a comma delimited (csv)
type file.

That would eliminate the issue all together.

I did notice that the import does have a option for paradox, so, I suppose
it should work. Perhaps the paradox is a very old version.

I would as test try creating a blank access file, and then import into
that.

You might even try on another pc to see if you get different results.
