Can't Import from Excel

My employer uses Access 97.
I often import or link data in MS Excel spreadsheets. Now
I can't even export my Excel files to CDF or Fixed Field
text file because Access won't access them.

When I go to Get External Data->Import or Get External
Data->Link, all I get is Access, DBase, FoxPro, and ODBC
choices. I am unable to import or link anything else
(like EXCEL or TXT files)

When I go to File->Open , I get MDB, MDA, MDW and MDB
files to choose from, but I also get All Files(*.*), but I
can't open and/or import Excel files using this method
because I get: Unrecognized database
format "X:\path\file.xls"

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Access, and then all
of office. No change.

Can you help???

Look for the file "Msexcl35.dll" (should be in the system folder) and when
you find it, use regsvr32.exe to register it with your Windows OS.
