Import from Excel

Access 2000, When I go to Get External Data, Import, I do not have Microsoft
Excel as a File Type to import.
All that is in there is Microsoft Access and ODBC Databases.

Can anybody tell me what controls the File Type options that I can import?

TIA

Hi,

My name is Amy Vargo. Thank you for using the Microsoft Access Newsgroups.

To get Excel files to appear in the list, do the following:

1.Close all applications.
2.Click Start, Search, All Files and Folders. Search in your C: drive for
msexcl40.dll. Leave this windows opened.
3.Open another Search window and search for regsvr32.exe.
4Align both Search windows side-by-side. Drag the icon for the
msexcl40.dll file ontop of the regsvr32.exe icon (located in
C:\Windows\System32)
5.You should get a message that it succeeds. Click ok. Now test to see if
you see Excel in the list.

For more information, please see the article below.

209805 You receive a "Could not find installable ISAM" error message or some

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please

a microsoft support question.
